Off the GridThis two-week adventure is an opportunity to see and learn in-depthly about unique, local grassroots initiatives working to counteract global problems such as energy use, climate change and the disappearance of traditional cultures. Ladakh is home to numerous non-profit organizations developing renewable energy technologies, as well as working to preserve endangered species and to protect traditional Ladakhi culture.

Trip Highlights

  • Overnight stays at SECMOL school to engage in various solar projects.
  • Trekking to remote mountain villages to track the Snow Leopard with local Snow Leopard Conservancy experts.
  • Investigating "artificial glaciers" designed by the "Ice Man" of Ladakh to provide a more reliable source of irrigation water for remote mountain villages.
